As you may have noticed, work is underway on the new whitewater/surf park under the Colorado Avenue bridge in Bend, and one of the groups that has been working toward making the park a reality — the Bend Paddle Trail Alliance — is throwing a party.
They’re calling it the 3 Lives and 3 Waves Celebration, in memory of Jason Mitchell, Eddy Miller and Kricket Serota, three supporters of the Deschutes River and its recreation potential for whom three of the park’s waves will be named. There’ll be beer from Crux Fermentation Project and live music by The T Sisters, a trio from the Bay Area whose catchy Americana music differs from the mob of bands currently making catchy Americana music because it’s powered by these three women’s voices.
You see, the T Sisters are not just a band, but actual sisters, and you can hear it in their lock-tight harmonies, which sound like they were honed by a lifetime of singing together. Probably because they were!
Besides just being beautiful, however, the T Sisters’ music has a very distinct vintage jazz/swing vibe, drawing from way-back female singing groups like the Andrews Sisters and The Ronettes. The combination of old-time feel and forward-thinking song selection and arrangement makes the band’s album, “Kindred Lines,” seriously easy on the ears. Hear it by clicking on “EPK” at www.tsisters.com and scrolling down.
The party is also a fundraiser for BPTA and the park, thus the suggested donation listed below.
