Smith Rock volunteer event on Saturday

The final volunteer event of the year for a native plant garden installation at Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Organizers seek volunteers to help with weeding and winterizing the garden.

Volunteers should wear long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves, a water bottle and snacks. Trowels will be provided if you do not have your own. The event is free and no registration is required.

Smith Rock State Park has two full-time rangers and relies heavily on volunteers to help with projects. Volunteers will meet in front of the main visitor yurt. The desert garden installation adjacent to the yurt. Bring your state park pass or $5 for daily parking.

A hike afterwards is optional, as is lunch at the Terrebonne Depot.
