Ravens roll to win

ONTARIO — Ridgeview improved to 2-0 on the boys basketball season, holding off Ontario 58-43 on Friday in a nonconference contest.
George Mendazona paced the Ravens with 18 points, five assists and four steals.
Carson Manselle added 13 points and six rebounds for Ridgeview, and Garrett Allbrecht had 10 points and eight boards.

Summit 76, West Salem 62: The Storm connected on 30 of their 37 free-throw attempts in a season-opening nonconference victory. Kyle Cornett scored a game-high 14 points and Cam Baker posted 13 points and 12 rebounds as Summit totaled 21 field goals.
Clarkston (Wash.) 88, Mountain View 66: PENDLETON — Davis Holly hit five 3-pointers to finish with 25 points but the Cougars fell to Clarkston on the first day of the Red Lion Tournament. Kaimi Kurzynowski chipped in with 14 points for Mountain View, which trailed 41-22 at the half, and Ments Haugen totaled seven points.
Baker 46, Redmond 36: BAKER CITY — Cody Moss scored 16 points and Cody Winters had seven points and seven rebounds, but the Panthers totaled just 10 second-half points in the nonleague loss. Redmond led 26-22 at halftime, but the Panthers were held to six points in the third quarter and four in the fourth. Alani Troutman contributed eight boards for Redmond.
Sisters 59, Crook County 45: SISTERS — Hayes Moore had 13 points and five assists, Tysen Gill had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Sisters rolled to the season-opening nonconference win. Blake Bartels scored 14 points and Garrett Harper had 13 for the Cowboys.
La Pine 55, Lost River 36: LA PINE — Behind Ian Johnson’s game-high 15 points, the Hawks raced past Lost River on the first day of the La Pine Tournament. Tyress Turnsplenty added 12 points for La Pine.
Portland Lutheran 52, Central Christian 39: Jacob Biever scored 15 points, but the Tigers missed 20 free throws and lost in their season opener at the Trinity Lutheran Tournament. Caleb Reynolds added 11 points for Central Christian.
Vale 62, North Lake 26: PRAIRIE CITY — Ethan Murphy scored a team-high 10 points for the Cowboys, but it was not enough as North Lake fell in the first round of the 13-Mile Shootout.
Girls basketball
Bend 47, Lebanon 36: LEBANON — Sophia Jackson finished with a game-high 16 points to lead the Lava Bears to their first win of the season. Alex Evert had 10 points for Bend, which outscored Lebanon 26-13 in the second and third quarters to improve to 1-1 on the year. Shelby Olson contributed eight points for the Bears.
Summit 60, Aloha 40: BEAVERTON — With Sarah Reeves going for 21 points, seven rebounds, six steals and two assists, the Storm opened the season with a rout of Aloha at the Aloha Tournament. Sarah Heinly had 11 points and two assists for Summit.
Clarkston (Wash.) 55, Mountain View 36: PENDLETON — Mountain View’s inexperience showed (seven Cougars were seeing their first varsity action) in its season opener at the Red Lion Tournament as Clarkston took advantage of turnovers and first-game jitters for the win. Hailey Goetz led the Cougars with 11 points, and Isabell Weber had seven.
Baker 39, Redmond 24: BAKER CITY — Poor second-half shooting was the demise for the Panthers, who led 21-20 at the half. Redmond scored just three points in the second half, and Baker scored 14 points in the final quarter. Sophia Hamilton led Redmond with 15 points.
Ridgeview 59, Ontario 30: ONTARIO — A strong zone defense gave Ridgeview its second victory of the season as the Ravens limited Ontario to just 12 second-half points. Shae Wilcox led Ridgeview with 23 point and Hosanna Wilder had 16.
Sisters 46, Crook County 43: SISTERS — Gwen Knoop hit two crucial free throws with 46 seconds left to give the Outlaws, who hit just 13 of 33 free-throw attempts, the nonconference win. Kimmer Severance scored 22 of her game-high 30 points in the second half for Crook County. Sisters was led by Boston Moore’s 18 points.
Lost River 36, La Pine 33: LA PINE — Riley Mickel posted 12 points and four assists and Ashley Pierce recorded seven points and seven rebounds, but the Hawks could not hold off the Raiders on the first day of the La Pine Tournament.
Trinity Lutheran 63, Portland Lutheran 35: Emily Eidler logged a game-high 22 points to go along with 12 rebounds as the Saints of Bend improved to 2-0 with a convincing victory at the Trinity Lutheran Tournament.
Camas Valley 45, Gilchrist 32: GILCHRIST — The Grizzlies fell behind 12-2 after one quarter and trailed the rest of the way in their season opener at the Gilchrist Tournament. Sierra Shuey led Gilchrist with 12 points to go with her seven rebounds and two steals.
Vale 56, North Lake 15: PRAIRIE CITY — The Cowgirls dropped their first game of the season, a tournament contest at Prairie City’s 13-Mile Shootout. Jade Stockton led North Lake with six points.
