Man accused of dog sexual assault conditionally released

A Bend man accused of sexually assaulting a dog was released from Yamhill County custody Thursday, court records show.
John William Ryan, who was placed on administrative leave last week from his position as the executive director of the Central Oregon Independent Practice Association after his arrest Feb. 23, signed a security release agreement Thursday, according to the Oregon ECourt Case Information system.
Ryan, 47, was indicted Wednesday on two counts of sexually assaulting an animal, two counts of soliciting a felony and two counts of soliciting a misdemeanor. A pretrial conference is scheduled for March 23.
