A 22-year-old Bend man died in a car crash in Clackamas County early Friday, according to Oregon State Police.

Michael Eberitzsch II was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 26 shortly before 3:30 a.m. when he drifted into westbound traffic and collided head-on with a 2003 Kenworth log truck, according to a Friday news release from OSP. A wheel from the truck came off during the crash, striking another truck as it passed by in a secondary crash.

Eberitzsch was pronounced dead at the scene. Neither truck driver was injured during the incident and are cooperating with investigators. While the incident is still under investigation, speed and alcohol are being investigated as potential factors in the crash.
