Milk tanker rollover prompts hazmat response

U.S. Highway 197 north of Madras was blocked briefly this morning after a milk tanker rolled over, prompting an environmental cleanup response from Prineville.

Oregon State Police troopers from The Dalles investigated the early morning incident near milepost 73. According to OSP, the driver, 61-year-old Brent G. Braun of Selah, Washington, may have experienced a medical event and left the roadway, rolling the tanker onto the highway. Hazardous materials crews from Prineville assisted with the milk spill and were able to contain any further leaks, according to OSP.

Braun was transported by ground ambulance to St. Charles Madras. The highway is now open.
