Man falls 50 feet down river cliffs

A man walking near the cliffs at Bill Healy Memorial Bridge took a considerable fall Sunday.

At about 10 p.m., Bend Fire Department responded to a call of a man who had fallen 50 feet from a cliff along the Deschutes River at SW Reed Market Road. A friend who was with the man called 911.

Bend Fire reached the man without using special equipment and took him to St. Charles Bend. Battalion Chief of Administration Dave Howe said Tuesday the fire department did not know whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the fall.
