A rundown of games and events to watch for locally and nationally from the world of sports (all times Pacific):
Today-Tuesday
Prep golf, OSAA state championships: Summit will be going for its seventh straight Class 5A girls title at Trysting Tree in Corvallis, where rival Bend High will hope to contend. The Lava Bear boys are out to defend their 5A title at Emerald Valley in Creswell, where Summit could be the favorite. The Eagle Crest Ridge Course in Redmond hosts the 4A/3A/2A/1A girls, a field that includes Crook County.
Thursday-Saturday
Prep tennis, OSAA boys and girls state championships: Central Oregon will be represented in both the Class 5A championships, which take place at West Hills Racquet & Fitness Club in Portland and Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton, and the 4A/3A/2A/1A championships, set for the Oregon State University Tennis Complex in Corvallis.
Thursday-Saturday
Prep track and field, OSAA state championships in Eugene: In a meet expected to feature a ninth consecutive championship for the Class 5A Summit girls, plenty of other athletes from Central Oregon will be looking to shine at Hayward Field. The Class 3A/2A/1A meet runs Thursday and Friday; the 6A/5A/4A meet runs Friday and Saturday.
Saturday
Cycling, Bend Don’t Brake Road Bike Race in Bend, 9 a.m.: In its fifth year, this popular circuit race in southeast Bend offers six different competitive divisions. Bend Don’t Brake is part of the Oregon Senior Games and the Oregon Women’s Prestige Series. For more information or to register, go to banddontbrake.com.
Sunday
Auto racing, 99th Indianapolis 500, 8 a.m. (ABC): It’s called The Greatest Spectacle in Racing, and it will have to go some to top last year’s race, in which American Ryan Hunter-Reay beat Brazilian Helio Castroneves by 0.06 seconds in the second-closest finish in Indy 500 history. The 200-lap race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway is scheduled to start at 9:15 a.m.
