Ducks win late, await tourney fate — Oregon pinch runner Spencer Smith advanced to second on a failed pickoff attempt and scored on a Tim Susnara single to center field in the 11th inning to give the Ducks a 4-3 Pac-12 win over UCLA on Saturday afternoon in Eugene. It was the third 11-inning victory for the Ducks (37-23 overall, 16-14 Pac-12) in their past four games, including a 5-4 win Saturday night over the Bruins. Pac-12 champion UCLA (42-14, 22-8) took a 3-2 lead on a Luke Persico two-run single in the sixth, and Oregon’s Scott Heineman answered with an RBI double in the bottom of the inning to tie. Ducks starter Josh Graham struck on 11 in nine innings, and Stephen Nogosek and Garrett Cleavinger (6-2) combined to allow just one baserunner in the two extra innings. The Ducks, who finished sixth in the 11-team Pac-12, are on the NCAA tournament bubble and learn their fate today when the 64-team bracket is released at 9 a.m.

Beavs end regular season with loss — Oregon State lost just its second Pac-12 game this month, ending the regular season with a 7-3 loss to California on Sunday afternoon in Corvallis. The Beavers (38-16-1 overall, 19-10-1 Pac-12) finished second in the Pac-12 and will be in the 64-team NCAA tournament field announced at 9 a.m. today. Oregon State tied the game at 2 on a two-run Joe Gillette triple in the fourth, but the Golden Bears (34-19, 18-12) regained the lead in the fifth on a two-run Lucas Erceg homer off Beavers starter Travis Eckert (6-1), who was then pulled after striking out five in 4 1⁄3 innings. Seven relievers finished the game for the Beavers, whose last conference loss was 3-1 to Washington on May 1, a streak of nine games which included a 2-2 tie against Utah.

Contador finished five seconds behind his fellow Spaniard, but edged out his closest challenger Fabio Aru to claim valuable bonus seconds. The Tinkoff-Saxo rider extended his lead over Aru to 2 minutes, 35 seconds in the overall standings.
