Idella May Marshall, 96, of Albany, died Wednesday at Samaritan Evergreen Hospice House.
Born in Lexington, Oregon, to Aaron Howard and Leona (Davis) Slate, Idella graduated from Bend High School in 1937. She married Argalus Gus Marshall in 1941, in Vancouver, Washington, and together they made their home first in Bend, then Oakridge, and moved to Albany, in 1958.
Idella worked as a beautician for several years and enjoyed many hobbies, especially bowling and golf. She was president of the Lady Bug, Twilight, and Nite Owl leagues and served on the board of directors of the local bowling association, even representing the association as a delegate to the state convention. Idella bowled in many state and national tournaments and she was honored in 2005, as an inductee into the Albany Womens Bowling Hall of Fame.
Idella also had a passion for golf, and was a board member at Bend Country Club, president of ladies golf at the Circle Bar Golf Club in Oakridge, and then chairperson of the tournament and handicap committees, as well as chairman of junior golf at Springhill Country Club in Albany where she was a longtime member. Idellas golfing years included an amazing three holes in one.
Survivors include her son, Marvin Butch Marshall of Albany; grandchildren, Rhonda Hendershott and husband, Brad, Myndi Lambert and husband, Rick, Derek Marshall and wife, Brooke, and Shelli Kudrna and husband, David; sisters, Lucy, Margaret, Pauline, Doris Ann, Donna, and Ginger; eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Gus in 2013; son George Argalus Marshall; brothers Melvin, Mike and Leonard; and sisters Mildred, Lois, and Bobbie.
A viewing will be from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 28, at Fisher Funeral Home. A cryptside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 29, in the Willamette Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, followed by a reception at Timberlinn Park.
