Camp Fire Central Oregon announced its Teens in Action program will meet in Bend and Prineville every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from June 23 to August 13. Created in partnership with Better Together Initiative’s 8+9 program, Teens in Action helps students make the transition from middle to high school by providing them with free, focused service-learning projects they can work on the summers before and after their 8th grade year.
The program — which recently received a $20,000 grant from the Oregon Community Foundation and a $2,000 donation from the Greater Bend Rotary — also pairs rising ninth graders with a mentor who can help them once they start high school.
Camp Fire also announced its Tumalo Day Camp — which recently received a $10,000 grant from the Clabough Foundation — will hold three sessions this year from June 22 through June 26, from July 20 through July 24, and from August 24 through 28. These camps are open to children from pre-kindergarten through the seventh grade and provides overnight opportunities for upper level students.
