The La Pine Rural Fire Protection District put out a structure fire at a single-story home on Dorrance Meadow Road late Tuesday night, according to a district news release.
The three occupants, including an 8-year-old, awoke to the sound of a working smoke detector and fire climbing up the living room wall.
Firefighters were able to control the fire within 20 minutes. The entire structure sustained heavy heat and smoke damage throughout and the living room and its contents were significantly damaged by fire.
Preliminary investigation has found that an electrical plug strip may have been the ignition source. The home is presently uninhabitable.
Neighbors assisted immediately with overnight shelter and the family has been referred to American Red Cross for additional assistance and recovery. The home was insured.
