The Redmond City Council is expected to vote to adopt standards for marijuana cultivation in residential zones next week.

At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Council is scheduled to meet at the Council Chambers, 777 SW Deschutes Ave., to vote whether proposed language will be added to city code.

The language includes that marijuana plants cannot be seen from public right-of-way, be sold or affect the health or safety of nearby residents. The language would also require residential marijuana cultivation take place in an enclosed, locked space.

Beginning July 1, Oregon households will be allowed to legally grow up to four marijuana plants as a result of statewide legalization.
