The Tri-County Major Crime Team is investigating a shooting of a man in Crook County on Sunday night, according to Oregon State Police Lt. Bill Fugate.

At about 8 p.m. Sunday, the Crook County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting north of Prineville, according to OSP Sgt. Roberto Robles.

An adult man was transported to St. Charles Bend for treatment of a gunshot wound, according to Fugate. The man’s name was not released.

Crook County Sheriff Jim Hensley said Monday morning his office would not release any information on the incident publicly, deferring to OSP.

The investigation into the incident is continuing, Fugate wrote.

He added that the names of those involved and the location of the incident will be released when doing so does not interfere with the investigation.

The Tri-County Major Crime Team was activated to assist with the initial investigation overnight. All involved parties in the incident have been contacted and there is no threat to the community, Fugate wrote.

The Major Crime Team consists of members from the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, the Crook County District Attorney’s Office, the Oregon State Police, the Bend Police Department, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office, the Redmond Police Department and the Warm Springs Police Department.
