Basketball

Mountain View to host camp — The Central Oregon Basketball Organization will hold an advanced skills basketball camp at Mountain View High School Aug. 10 through 13. Boys and girls entering grades three through six will meet from 9 a.m. to noon each day, while kids entering seventh through ninth grades will meet from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is available through the Bend Park and Recreation District at bendparksandrec.org and 541-389-7275. The cost is $99 for kids living within district boundaries and $119 for out-of-district residents.

CYCLING

Bend’s Armstrong takes 1st at BMX worlds — Olivia Armstrong took first place in the 16-and-under cruiser women category at the BMX world championships in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, on Thursday. Armstrong, who races at the High Desert BMX track in Bend and recently completed her freshman year at Bend High School, beat out 45 riders from 14 countries to win. She was one of three riders to represent the United States in the 16-and-under category after winning the girls cruiser division at the USA BMX Grand National in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last December.

Football

Redmond Youth Football registration open — Registration for the Redmond Youth Football league is available online at redmondyouthfootball.org until Aug. 7. Registration costs $50 for first and second graders and $110 for third through sixth graders. Discounts are available for families registering multiple children. Gear check-out will be held on Aug. 29, and the season will run through the end of October. First and second graders will play flag football and will meet between one and three times a week. Third and fourth graders will play tackle football, practicing twice and playing one game a week, while fifth and sixth graders will play in a separate division with three practices and one game a week. Registration is also available at Redmond Area Park and Recreation District offices.
