Seven arrested in domestic violence sweep

The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and other Central Oregon law enforcement departments joined nearly 500 agencies nationwide last week in an effort focused on arresting those accused of domestic violence.
The Annual National Family Violence Apprehension detail dedicates five hours to serving domestic violence warrants and making arrests. In Deschutes County, law enforcement agencies, made seven arrests during the detail and attempted to serve 140 warrants, according to the sheriff’s office. The agencies involved included the sheriff’s office, Bend Police Department, Sunriver Police Department, Redmond Police Department, Black Butte Police Department and Deschutes County Adult Parole and Probation. The sheriff’s office and departments assigned 26 personnel to the detail.
About 2,329 law enforcement members were part of the concerted effort in 38 states. The overall detail resulted in 1,654 arrests after attempting to serve 8,223 warrants, according to the sheriff’s office.
