Winter recreation enthusiasts will be able to find information about sno-parks along the Cascades Lakes Highway each Saturday throughout December beginning Dec. 12, the Deschutes National Forest announced Friday.

Forest Service employees plan to be stationed at the entrance to Dutchman Flat Sno-park from 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays to provide information about the rules and regulations for area sno-parks, according to a news release. Each vehicle entering the park will receive a flier spelling out sno-park guidelines.

The Deschutes National Forest law enforcement and recreation employees will also answer other questions and provide locations for snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and other sno-parks, the news release stated.

Oregon law requires a valid permit to park in a sno-park between Nov. 1 and April 30. Visitors already in the mountains may buy one at Mt. Bachelor ski area’s Nordic Center. Permits are also sold at all state DMV offices and at numerous vendors around the state.

A list can be obtained at www.tripcheck.com/Pages/SPentry.asp#.

An annual sno-park permit costs $25; a three-day permit costs $9, and a daily permit costs $4, according to the DMV.
