Diego’s Umbrella, San Francisco’s favorite roving band of Gypsies, have long been a fixture in Central Oregon, playing everything from Bend Summer Festival to Silver Moon Brewing.
The veteran gypsy rock band brought its stomping mix of punk energy, old world fiddling and danceable rhythms to Volcanic Theatre Pub in September, giving audiences a taste of its new EP “Songs for the Juerga.” It’s the band’s first new studio output since 2012’s full length “Proper Cowboy.”
Quite a break, but you can be sure these road dogs weren’t slacking. They’ve been on the road since the album release show in October at the Social Hall in San Francisco, tearing up clubs and dance halls all over the Northwest.
If you missed the new tunes and the dance fest last time around, you’re in luck. The band will tear up the stage at The Belfry in Sisters on Saturday. Worth braving the ice and cold if you’re a fan of punk, gypsy punk, klezmer or just good music in general.
