The Oregon Department of Transportation this afternoon put out a high-wind warning for people driving highways in Central Oregon.

Winds may create delays by toppling trees onto highways, and blowing dust or snow may impair visibility, according to the agency. The strongest winds are expected late this afternoon and evening.

Peak sustained winds around Bend today are expected to be about 25 to 35 mph, with gusts 50 mph, said Rachel Cobb, meteorologist for National Weather Service in Pendleton.

The weather service also has high-wind a warning up today for northeast Oregon.
