Ross 15th in super-combined — Swiss skier Lara Gut beat American Lindsey Vonn by .01 seconds to win a thrilling World Cup super-combined race on Friday at Val d’Isere, France. Chasing her fifth win of the season, Vonn led after the morning’s downhill section, with Gut .38 behind in second place before Gut made up the time in slalom. Bend’s Laurenne Ross finished 15th, 3.27 seconds behind Gut. There is a downhill race today.

Norwegians sweep men’s super-G — Aksel Lund Svindal led a Norwegian sweep of the podium in a World Cup super-G on Friday at Val Gardena, Italy. Adding to his record with a fourth career win in this race, Svindal clocked 1 minute, 28.12 seconds for a 0.34 seconds advantage over teammate Kjetil Jansrud.

Oregon’s Prandini named top athlete — Oregon’s Jenna Prandini won collegiate track and field’s most prestigious individual honor, the Bowerman Award, on Thursday night. Prandini’s 2015 season made her the most prolific point scorer in NCAA history, racking up a total of 49 points between the indoor and outdoor national championships. She won the indoor long jump and the outdoor 100-meter dash.
