La Pine firefighters were unable to save a mobile home on Day Road that caught fire Wednesday morning.

In a news release, the La Pine Rural Fire Protection District said a passing driver reported the fire at 52995 Day Road at around 11 a.m.

Although firefighters were unable to save the mobile home and additions, the fire did not spread to three nearby outbuildings and an RV.

The residents were not home at the time, though two dogs living at the address are currently unaccounted for.

Day Road was closed for three hours while fire crews worked to put out the flames.
