New Year’s Day is Friday.

• Most county and city offices in Central Oregon will be closed Friday to observe the holiday. Most federal and state offices will be closed as well.

• The Deschutes Public Library system will close at 5 p.m. Thursday and remain closed Friday. Jefferson County Library will close at 2 p.m. Thursday and will be closed Friday and the Crook County Library will close at 4 p.m. Thursday and be closed Friday.

• Banks will be closed Friday.

• Post offices will be closed Friday, with no mail pickup or delivery.

• Department of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed Friday.

• Bend-La Pine, Sisters, Jefferson County, Redmond, Crook County and Culver school districts are on winter break through Jan. 1. Central Oregon Community College and OSU-Cascades classes finished earlier this month; offices at COCC are closed this week and OSU-Cascades offices will be closed Friday.

• High Country Disposal, Cascade Disposal and Bend Garbage & Recycling will not collect Friday. Collections normally scheduled for that day will be done Saturday. Wilderness Garbage will make regular Friday collections on Thursday.

• Juniper Swim & Fitness Center will close at 6 p.m. Thursday and open 9 a.m. to noon Friday with a special fitness schedule.

• North Bend Liquor Store will have regular hours Thursday and open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; East Bend Liquor Store will be open 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; Bend South Liquor Store will have regular hours Thursday and close Friday; Giorgio’s West Bend will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Cascade Alchemy Distillery will open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday and closed Friday.
