Power restored on Bend’s west side

Power has been restored to all Pacific Power customers in Bend, according to the power company.

About 3,000 customers on the city’s west side were without electricity starting at 3:35 p.m. today. Power was restored over the next four plus hours with the lights going back on for the last 100 customers shortly before 8 p.m.

A section of an approximately 80-foot ponderosa pine fell at NW 12th Street and Hartford Avenue, knocking down power lines and two poles, according to Steve Stenkamp, a fire inspector with the Bend Fire Department. Bend firefighters quickly put out a small fire on one of the poles.

The area between NW Galveston and Hartford avenues and 12th and 13th streets was blocked off as Pacific Power crews worked to restore power.

Around the same time as the power outage occurred, the Bend Fire Department received a report of a minor brush fire near Westside Church on NW Shevlin Park Road. The U.S. Forest Service responded and put out that fire, according to Stenkamp.
