Thunder sign Sabonis — The Oklahoma City Thunder have signed recently acquired forward Domantas Sabonis to a contract. Thunder general manager The 6-foot-11-inch, 240-pound Sabonis — from Gonzaga — was the 11th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic and was traded on draft night to Oklahoma City with guard Victor Oladipo and forward Ersan Ilyasova for forward Serge Ibaka. The Portland native and son of former Trail Blazer Arvydas Sabonis is currently competing at the Olympics for Lithuania.

Marks wins NASCAR Xfinity race — Justin Marks splashed through the rain at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course on Saturday for his first NASCAR Xfinity Series victory. The 35-year-old Marks pulled away on a restart with two left to go in the 75-lap race on the 2.085-mile, 13-turn road course in Lexington, Ohio, finishing 3.7 seconds ahead of pole-sitter Sam Hornish Jr.

Defending champs shocked in loss — Leicester City opened its title defense with a shock 2-1 loss at newly-promoted Hull on the first day of the English Premier League season on Saturday. Having sprung one of soccer’s biggest surprises by winning the league last season, Leicester was on the receiving end of an upset after Robert Snodgrass rifled home Hull’s winner in the 57th minute. Despite facing a side that was already mired in difficulties off the pitch, Leicester became the first champion to lose its opening league game of the following season since the Premier League began in 1992-93.

Karlovic wins Mexican Open — Ivo Karlovic won the Mexican Open on Saturday night in Los Cabos, Mexico, for his second ATP World Tour title of the year and eighth overall, beating top-seeded Feliciano Lopez of Spain 7-6 (5), 6-2. The 37-year-old Karlovic, from Croatia, was playing his third final in four events. He beat Gilles Muller at Newport, Rhode Island, and lost to Gael Monfils in Washington.
