– Edna Louise Kliewer – Edna Louise Kliewer, 97, passed away peacefully in Bend, Oregon, on February 16, 2018. She lived in Bakersfield, California, for more than 90 years and moved to Bend in 2015 to be closer to relatives. Edna graduated from Bakersfield High School and worked for Bakersfield Schools as an administrative clerk. She was active in the Eastern Star Bakersfield Chapter 125 for 65 years, serving as matron in 1957. She joined the Phi Epsilon Phi Sorority Sigma Chapter in 1966 and was president for three years, funding women’s cancer research by putting on craft bazaars and fashion shows. She was an accomplished seamstress, had her hummingbird feeder filled and kept an immaculate house and yard. Her mother, husband and sons were the center of her life. Her biggest pleasure was spending time with her lifelong friends over a game of cards, at barbecues or RVing. Edna is survived by 2 sons, Don (Pat) of Bend, and Larry of Nevada; 3 granddaughters, Lori Murphy and Kristi Hartrich (Bill) of Bend, and Wendy Knight (Kris) of Kansas; 3 grandsons, Jonathan Kliewer (Leah) of Florida, Christopher (Cindy) Kliewer of Nevada, and Shawn Kliewer of New York; 16 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Samuel J. Kliewer; her father, Oliver L. Deuel; her mother, Olga Farris Deuel; a half sister, Dorothy Deuel Boyer; a grandson, Joshua M. Kliewer; and a granddaughter, Sharon Kliewer Silette. – Funeral Home arrangements were handled by Baird Funeral Home in Bend, Oregon. Services will be held on Friday, March 2, at 2:00 pm at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary of Bakersfield, California.
