Beavs back on track — Oregon State bounced back Saturday from its first loss of the season, downing Cal State Fullerton 6-4 at Goss Stadium in Corvallis to square the series at a game apiece. Michael Gretler had three of the top-ranked Beavers’ 13 hits, Andy Armstrong drove in two runs, and Dylan Pearce earned his first career victory with two scoreless innings of relief to lift the Beavers, who lost 5-3 on Friday night to end their 13-game winning streak to open the season. Adley Rutschman had two hits in Saturday’s game and hiked his batting average to .449 for OSU (14-1). The Beavers and Titans (4-9) conclude their series Sunday.

Oregon sweeps UC Davis — Ryne Nelson was the hitting standout and also earned the save in Oregon’s 7-2 win over UC Davis in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday at PK Park in Eugene. The Ducks won the opener 4-1 behind seven innings of two-hit pitching by James Acuna. In the second game, Nelson was the starting shortstop for Oregon and was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. He took over on the mound in the eighth inning and struck out five over two scoreless innings to notch his second save. The Ducks (11-3) have won five in a row and will try for a sweep of the four-game set with UC Davis on Sunday.
