A Newberg man was arrested one day after allegedly attempting to rob the La Pine Dairy Queen.

Jason L. Reed, 31, is said to have walked into the establishment at 52505 U.S. Highway 97 and asked the cashier to open the cash register while acting like he had a weapon, according to police. No weapon was seen during the attempt.

The cashier refused to open the register and the man left, driving south on the highway.

The sheriff’s office issued a release seeking help finding a man approximately 5-foot-10 and 160 pounds with a trim beard and dark-framed glasses. He was last seen driving a silver Chevy Traverse LS with Oregon license plates.

Reed was arrested Tuesday by Salem Police Department.
