School notes
• Dr. Sara E. Johnson has been selected as superintendent of Crook County School District by its board of directors, effective July 1. She has been the director of assessment, equity and school improvement for the Klamath County School District for two years.
Youth notes
• Kaia Kochersberger, a 10-year-old flute student at Cascade School of Music, has been awarded the Rising Star award for February 2018. The Rising Star award recognizes students in years one and two of private instruction who exhibit talent, effort and achievement and have been nominated by their teachers. She is the daughter of Abigail and John Kochersberger of Bend.
Teen feats
• Carter Nelson, of Troop 120 in Bend, earned his Eagle Scout rank March 22. For his Eagle Scout community service project, Carter and volunteers contributed 212 hours building picnic tables for the Pine Nursery Dog Park. He attends Pacific Crest Middle School and is the son of D’Lonna and Dr. Wayne Nelson of Bend.
