CORVALLIS — The younger brother of former Oregon State quarterback standout Matt Moore has joined the Beavers football roster for spring practice.
Nick Moore, also a quarterback, will be immediately eligible to practice but will have to redshirt for the 2018 season in compliance with NCAA transfer regulations, according to an OSU athletic department release Tuesday. Moore, native of Newhall, California, near Los Angeles, attended Eastern Washington University for the first two terms of this academic year and will have three years of playing eligibility beginning with the 2019 season.
Matt Moore, a two-year starter at Oregon State (2005-06), is now with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. Nick Moore was the Foothill League offensive player of the year at Hart High School as a senior in 2016 after completing 58.2 percent of his passes (166 of 285) for 2,102 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for 713 yards and 15 TDs.
In addition to Moore, first-year OSU head coach Jonathan Smith announced that I’Shawn Stewart, a 6-foot, 166-pound wide receiver from Bolingbrook, Illinois, and Braelen Bettles, a 6-1, 190-pound safety from Happy Valley (Clackamas High School), have been added to the roster for spring practice.
The Beavers open spring practice on Wednesday. The annual spring game is set for April 28 at Reser Stadium.
