Three Bend men are suspected of illegally producing large amounts of marijuana and butane hash oil in their attached garage.

Detectives with the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team and members of the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team discovered the operation March 28 during a search of the home the men live in at 25486 Deer Lane in Bend.

Detectives said they seized 179 mature marijuana plants, 280 seedlings, more than 200 pounds of packaged marijuana, more than 18 pounds of butane hash oil extract, 13 firearms, and the components of a fully operational butane hash oil laboratory.

The laboratory was found in the attached garage and the grow was in an adjacent outbuilding.

The search was the result of a lengthy investigation into the manufacture and distribution of butane hash oil. Detectives said they identified David Wyrsch, 24, Sean Wyrsch, 29, and Jacob Robe, 29, as being involved in the operation at their residence on Deer Lane.

The three are accused of distributing the extracted butane hash oil out of the state for profit. They do not have any medical or recreational license or legal authority to manufacture or distribute butane hash oil, according to the detectives.

David Wyrsch was the only one home March 28 at the time of search. He was arrested on two counts of unlawful manufacture of marijuana and unlawful delivery and possession of marijuana.

Sean Wyrsch has not been arrested for his alleged involvement, according to the drug enforcement team.

Jacob Robe has been cited after a traffic stop in Klamath County, where an Oregon State Police trooper reportedly found a small amount of hash oil extract and a substantial amount of cash in the vehicle.

The Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case and could add more charges against all three men.

Hash oil, also known as honey oil, is derived from marijuana. The hash or honey is concentrated THC, the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana. Hash oil is manufactured by using highly flammable materials, such as butane, to refine and concentrate the THC, making a product which can contain up to 90 percent THC.
