Summit takes 1st place in Raven Rumble; Bend finishes in 3rd

REDMOND — William Fleck tied for medalist honors with a 1-over-par 72 and two other Summit golfers placed in the top 10 to help the Storm capture the Raven Rumble boys golf title for the fourth time in five years.
Summit finished with a team 309, 12 strokes ahead of Valley Catholic. Bend High was third in the 13-tam standings with a 334.
Fleck tied for first individually along with Isaac Buerger, who led Ridgeview to sixth place with a 353. Also for the Storm, Jackson Murphy tied for fourth with a 77, and Hayden Klein tied for eighth with a 79.
The Lava Bears were paced by Parker Krovisky, who carded a 77 to tie for fourth, while Tyler Floyd placed 14th with an 82.
Other top players from Central Oregon teams included La Pine’s Tommy Rhode, who tied for 17th with an 87, and Redmond High’s Hayden Perry, who tied for 23rd with an 89. Crook County’s Brodie Kuizenga tied for 42nd with a 97, and Mountain View’s Isaac Vanderpool tied for 45th with a 98.

Lava Bears claim Titan Track Classic: SALEM — A 1-2-3 record-breaking finish in the girls pole vault helped Bend record 151 points and take first at the Titan Track Classic. Emily Showers, Taylor Petz and Elishka Pierce finished atop the podium in the pole vault, each clearing 10-8 to break the previous meet record of 10-0. The Lava Bears’ Maya Hopwood set a meet record in winning the 100 in 12.40 seconds, and she was second in the 200 with a time of 26.101 seconds, a mere .002 seconds ahead of teammate Grace Toney, that also would have been a meet record. Toney won the 400 in a meet-record 59.30 seconds, and Kayla Rambo won the discus and was second in the shot put. The Lava Bears’ Wade Jacobus, who also placed third in the boys discus, cleared 14-1 to win the pole vault and set a meet record at the Titan Track Classic. Raymond Blasquez was second in the high jump, fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200 for the Lava Bears, who posted 84 points to take third as a team. West Salem won with 132.5 points. Also for Bend, E.G. Pierce was second in the 800 and third in the 400, and Brady Petz took fourth in the 300 hurdles and sixth in the 100 hurdles.
Cowboys first at invitational: LAKE OSWEGO — Amid a field of Class 6A and 5A teams, the 4A Crook County boys recorded 118 points to take first at the nine-team Laker Classic Invitational. Tyler Humeston (shot put) and Jason Slawter (javelin) each had wins for the Cowboys. Kenna Woodward won the shot put and placed second in the discus and fourth in the javelin for the Crook County girls, who were second with 91.5 points. Lake Oswego won with 118.5 points. The Cowgirls’ Faith Wagner was first in the pole vault, and Jeanette Carne took the 3,000.
La Pine girls, boys 3rd at invite: BLUE RIVER — Behind Lizzy James’ win in the discus, the La Pine girls recorded 64 points to take third at the 14-team AMJ Invite. The Hawks’ Autumn Gerard was second in both the shot put and the discus. Skyla Newton won both the 300 hurdles and the 100 for Gilchrist, which was seventh as a team with 41 points, and the Grizzlies’ Katie McDaniel was third in the 100 hurdles. The La Pine boys, who were third with 80 points, were highlighted by Nathan Everly, who was second in the 110 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles. The Hawks’ Jesse Ordonez was runner-up in the 3,000 and sixth in the 1,500. Kyle Newton record the lone point for Gilchrist, which rounded out the team standings, by placing eighth in the 800. Crow won the girls title with 127 points, and Lowell topped the boys standings with 110 points.
Softball
Ridgeview 15, Summit 0: The visiting Ravens buried the Storm with a 10-run third inning en route to an Intermountain Conference win. Kiani Nakamura was 3-for-5 with three RBIs for Ridgeview (3-1 IMC, 8-1 overall), and Lorena Vasquez was 3-for-3 with a double and four runs batted in. Summit dropped to 0-3 in the IMC and 0-8 overall.
Mountain View 6, Redmond 5: With two outs in the bottom of the seventh and the score tied 5-5 in an Intermountain Conference contest, Mountain View’s Brenna Popham hit a double to the fence for her third hit of the day. She advanced to third on a single by Nikki Young, and then scored on a walk-off single by Alina Demeyer. Kayla Berg allowed three hits and struck out 12 for Mountain View (1-2 IMC, 2-3 overall), while the Panthers fell to 2-1 in league play and 4-7 overall.
Crook County 12, Estacada 0: Brooke Dalton struck out 10 and allowed just two hits to help the Cowgirls open Tri-Valley Conference play with a win. Dalton also went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Crook County (7-4), and Abby Dalton was 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Elizabeth Barker went 3-for-3 for the Cowgirls, and Mekynzie Wells was 2-for-3.
Sutherlin 10-20, Sisters 9-1: SUTHERLIN — Bethanne Yount blasted her first career home run in the first game ofa Sky-Em League doubleheader, but the Outlaws were denied their first league win of the season. Isabel Spitler struck out five in six innings to highlight Sisters (0-3 Sky-Em, 1-9 overall) in the opener. In the second game, Sutherlin erupted for 16 runs in the bottom of the second inning en route to a five-inning win.
Pilot Rock 16-11, Culver 0-0: PILOT ROCK — The Bulldogs were held to five hits over two games as they fell in a Class 2A/1A Special District 6 doubleheader. Emma Hayes, Ryanne Scholl and Amber Shaw each had a hit for Culver (0-2 SD6, 0-12 overall) in the opener, and Anyla Rico and Madison Miller accounted for the Bulldogs’ two hits in the second game.
Baseball
Mountain View 14, Redmond 13: The Cougars plated 13 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase a 13-1 deficit and earn their first Intermountain Conference and overall win of the season. B.B. Logan paced Mountain View (1-3 IMC, 1-9 overall) with four hits, including a double, and two RBIs. The Cougars’ Noah Murillo went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Charlie Borla added two hits and drove in a run, and Shandon Malikowski had a hit and four RBIs. Cooper Browning had two doubles and a single and drove in five runs for Redmond (2-1, 6-6), Colby Darnell was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Cannon Thompson singled and doubled and drove in a run.
Sisters 7-3, Sutherlin 3-9: SISTERS — The Outlaws used a five-run first inning to defeat Class 4A No. 6-ranked Sutherlin in the first game of a Sky-Em League doubleheader, but Sisters was limited to just three runs in the second contest in its first league loss of the season. In the opener, Sisters’ Zach Morgan had a hit and three RBIs, Austin Lake drove in two runs, and Austin Morss struck out six in five innings. Pherry Luz and Garrett Vohs each had two hits and an RBI for the Outlaws (2-1 Sky-Em, 8-4 overall), and Joe Scholl singled twice. Sisters’ Dillon Tucker contributed a single and an RBI.
Madras 7, Molalla 3: MADRAS — Cameron Rodriguez had three strikeouts in five innings, and Tyler Lockey closed out the Tri-Valley Conference win with three strikeouts in two innings of relief. Lockey also drove in three runs for the White Buffaloes (1-0 TVC, 6-3 overall), and Liam White had two RBIs.
Boys lacrosse
Lake Oswego 19, Summit 3: Will Maskill had nine saves, but the Storm fell in a nonconference contest. Scoring one goal apiece for Summit (1-3) were Justin Radatti, Cole Montoya and Connor McGrew.
