VICTORIA, British Columbia — The Bend Elks avoided a three-game sweep by defeating the Victoria HarbourCats 8-6 on Thursday night at Royal Athletic Park.

Victoria cut the Elks’ lead in half during the bottom of the eighth inning, but Bend’s Sam Boone converted a five-out save to seal the deal.

Same Muskat picked up the win after logging five stellar innings of one-run ball and nine strikeouts.
