The city of Bend this month will reduce the speed limit on Brosterhous Road between Third Street and American Lane from 40 mph to 35 mph.

The new speed limit signs will have orange warning flags on top for a few weeks to call attention to the change, according to a release from the city.

The change was prompted by requests from residents in response to development and changing conditions in the area. An Oregon Department of Transportation traffic study supported the change based on an analysis of existing driving speeds, road characteristics, crashes, access locations and more.
