A Bend woman was arrested early Wednesday morning after driving the wrong way on the Bend Parkway and crashing head-on into an oncoming vehicle.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded at about 4:04 a.m. to a report of a dark colored sedan driving southbound in the northbound lanes of the parkway at Pinebrook Boulevard.
Beverly Marsden, 60, the wrong-way driver in a Ford Focus, then crashed head-on into a silver Ford Escape driven by Merle Brubaker, 69, of La Pine.
Both Marsden and Brubaker were uninjured in the crash, but their vehicles sustained substantial damage.
The investigation revealed that Marsden was impaired at the time of the collision and unaware of the divided highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
Marsden was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another and fourth-degree assault.
