Driver in rollover crash near Sunriver faces assault charge

A rollover crash Friday night near Sunriver resulted in an assault charge for the driver, accused of driving while intoxicated.

Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Allen Hammermann, 43, of Sunriver, on suspicion of third-degree assault, driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and reckless endangerment, a sheriff’s department press release said.

Hammermann was not injured after the 2002 silver Saab left South Century Drive near the Venture Lane intersection, rolled through a wooded area and came to a stop in the parking lot of the Crossroad Station gas station, according to the sheriff’s office.

Hammermann was wearing a seatbelt.

His passenger, 34-year-old Sylvia Wasenius, was transported to St. Charles Bend with non-life threatening injuries.

She was not wearing a seatbelt.
