Turbulence hits The Capitol

Simmer Down Sounds will continue its streak of underground, authentic reggae shows at The Capitol on Sunday with a headlining performance by Jamaican singer and DJ Sheldon Campbell, better known as Turbulence. Discovered by producer Philip “Fatis” Burrell (owner of the Xterminator record label), Turbulence got his break in the Western world touring with Sizzla Kalonji and featuring in the 2007 documentary on underground Jamaican music, “RiseUp.” The prolific songwriter has released numerous albums and singles that blur the edges of reggae, R&B, rap and rock, including his 2004 hit single and calling-card “Notorious.” Reggae/dancehall performer I-Trinity will open. Total Reggae Band will back both singers, and DJ Colonel of Simmer Down will also perform.

Turbulence, with I-Trinity, Total Reggae Band, DJ Colonel: 9 p.m. Sunday; $17.50 plus fees in advance; The Capitol, 190 NW Oregon Ave., Bend; thecapitolbend.com or 541-678-5740.
