Carlene Roberts Lawrence, 105: An air industry pioneer, who worked her way up from a $150-a-month secretarial job to become the widely recognized first woman to break into the airline industry’s executive ranks. Died Monday at her home in Manhattan.
Mario Segale, 84: A Seattle-area real estate developer who unwittingly lent his name to perhaps the most famous video game character in history — Nintendo’s Mario. Died at a local hospital Oct. 27.
Milton Gendel, 99: An art critic who left Manhattan for Rome and became an advocate for postwar Italian artists. Died Oct. 11.
