TUALATIN — Jonas Larson rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns, but it was not enough for Mountain View, as the Cougars fell to Tualatin 49-20 in the first round of the Class 6A state football playoffs Friday night.

No. 24 Mountain View (5-5) trailed 28-20 at halftime, but the No. 9 Timberwolves pulled away in the second half.

“We were right there with them in the first half,” said Mountain View coach Brian Crum. “I was really pleased with how our kids battled tonight. We just got beat up tonight.”

Crum said two of his players suffered concussions and another injured a knee.

“They pulled away in the second half, and those injuries kind of caught up to us,” Crum said. “I was really happy with our effort level. Physically, we were right there with them.”

Larson scored on a 93-yard touchdown run that gave the Cougars a 6-0 lead midway through the first quarter. He added another long scoring run, for 72 yards, that put Mountain View up 20-14 with eight minutes left in the second quarter.

Tualatin scored on a quarterback sneak at the end of the first half to take a 28-20 lead into halftime. The Timberwolves then scored 21 unanswered points in the second half to advance to the second round of the playoffs and end Mountain View’s season.
