Irma Davis was born on a farm in McDonough, New York, the fourth of Spencer and Hazel (Pike) Aldrich’s nine children. Despite growing up during the depression era, Irma and her family lived richly off the land and their love of God.
Irma’s life’s journey led her from upstate New York—where she had met and married her husband Bob—to Winter Haven, Florida, where her two girls, Joyce and Kathy, were born. The family then moved across country to Whittier, California, for Bob’s job. Following Bob’s passing, Irma made a final relocation to Bend, Oregon, to live closer to her daughter, Joyce.
In Bend, Irma settled into single life by becoming an active member of the First United Methodist Church, discovering a love of nature with her hiking buddy, Dotty, joining a social widow’s support group, and finding part time employment with a company that supplemented her income for another 20+ years. She “retired” at the age of 90.
In her Golden Years, although Irma’s world got smaller, she continued to serve God by helping others and remaining steadfastly connected to her family.
Irma joined her Heavenly Father on February 11 of this year, but she will continue to be with her loved ones in spirit. They include her surviving Aldrich siblings, and their spouses and offspring; her own children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter; along with many dear friends.
A life well lived is a legacy of joy and pride and pleasure, a living lasting memory our grateful hearts will treasure. – Author Unknown
