One of the nicest things about large department stores is that they will choose your adventure for you.
Even if you go in thinking you need zero items, if you spend enough time there and allow yourself to be truly present, something will speak to you. Suddenly, an hour and a half will have flown by, and you’ll have grabbed a cart full of things you never knew you needed.

Most stores are set up to be exactly this way.
It’s why Target (TGT) – Get Free Report, for example, has a Dollar Spot nearest its entrance. Before you’re able to rush in and grab the the one thing you went there for, you’re immediately greeted by a selection of reasonably priced seasonal favorites.
Maybe it’s a Valentine’s Day wreath, a coloring book, party favors, trendy drinkware or even pickleball paddles. The point is it’s right in front of you and you have to walk past it to get into the rest of the store. And that’s exactly how management wants it.
Venture a little further through the aisles of your local Target, though, and you’ll find plenty more finds at mixed price points.
Target celebrity releases popular new items
Target has been a case study for successful collaborations — both with its in-house brands and world-renowned brands. Its partnership with the women’s designer Lilly Pulitzer, for example, sold out without hours of its launch.
Its partnership with the HGTV designer and TV personality Joanna Gaines, however, has had more staying power. Gaines has a full-time line at Target’s home-decor section, offering everything from chair poufs to faux eucalyptus to candles to furniture.
The Magnolia line, as it’s called, has created something of a sensation at Target and beyond. And in January it quietly released a new collaboration between Magnolia and the popular drinkware creator Stanley. Unsurprisingly, the line is a sensation.
“From the all new exclusive 30oz Quencher Collection to the New Year Collection to the Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Collection (including to-go food jars and new fresh-to-table bowls!), there is so much to choose from! You might actually want to RUN during your next #targetrun,” Instagram account @TargetDoesItAgain wrote.

The Magnolia Stanley collaboration includes:
- 40 oz. FlowState Quencher Tumbler: $45
- Set of two 12 oz. Classic Stainless Steel Mugs: $45
- 16 oz. Fresh-to-Table Leak Proof Bowl: $30
- 18 oz. Adventure Stainless Steel Food Jar: $30
Each comes in Magnolia colors, which are soothing and sage greens, beiges, tans and silvers. The 40-ounce Stanley Tumbler, Stanley’s most popular item, has already sold out online and in many stores. It was available in Silver Foil, Restful Green and Best Beige and sold for $45. The mugs were also sold out online in all three colors.
As of this writing, the stainless bowls and food jars were still available online, but given Target’s propensity to quickly sell out of favorites, it’s no guarantee they’ll be around for long.
