Eclipse watchers gather in Sunriver

Central Oregonians didn’t get the full experience of a total eclipse of the sun on Monday, as millions from Texas to Maine did. But the 25% eclipse visible locally was enough to draw observers to the Sunriver Nature Center and Oregon Observatory, where telescopes set up for sun viewing were available.
Oregon will witness another partial solar eclipse on Jan. 14, 2029, followed by another on March 30, 2033.

Oregon will experience an annular solar eclipse — when the moon blocks all but a thin ring of the sun — on Feb. 5, 2046.
Oregon won’t see another total eclipse of the sun before the year 2200.
But, we’ll have two total lunar eclipses in coming years: March 14, 2025, and March 3, 2026.
