Redmond Airport will hold TSA PreCheck events

With an influx of interested passengers and limited long-distance appointments, Redmond Airport announced it will hold TSA PreCheck enrollment events for local travelers.

Most TSA PreCheck appointments are offered in the Portland area as the closest location for those in Central Oregon, said Zachary Bass, Redmond Airport director.

“We’re just offering this a few times a year so that people can do it here and not have to travel that far to get their TSA PreCheck,” Bass said.

TSA PreCheck allows travelers to go through PreCheck-specific security lines, which are usually shorter than standard lines, Bass said.

The enrollment events are put on by IndentoGo and can usually take roughly 200 travelers in a week, Bass said.

The events will take place Monday through Aug. 2, Sept. 30 through Oct. 4 and Nov. 18 through Nov. 22.

Sign-ups are already open for Monday through Friday, Aug. 2. Other event sign-ups will open closer to fall.

“(Appointments) fill up pretty quick and have for the last few years,” Bass said. “The earlier the better.”

Appointments at the Redmond Airport will take about 10 to 15 minutes. Afterward, travelers will receive their “Known Traveler Number,” the number designated to TSA PreCheck-approved travelers, a few weeks later, Bass said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Redmond Airport added its own TSA PreCheck security line for quicker travel, according to Bass.

“We’re excited to make the process as easy as possible for our customers,” Bass said. “This is another one of those benefits that we can offer.”

Appointments are available for sign-ups at www.identogo.com.
