- Summit High’s Pearson Carmichael celebrates after the Storm won the 5A state championship game against Wilsonville on March 9 at Linfield University in McMinnville.
Pearson Carmichael, the two-time Class 5A Player of the Year who led Summit High School to its first-ever basketball state title this past March, is hosting a two-day basketball clinic in August.
Now playing basketball at Boise State, Carmichael wants to help bring his perspective the younger basketball players of Central Oregon.
“I’m just trying to show Bend and the young kids my love for the game,” Carmichael said. “I just want them to come in with an open mind and play free. It is going to be a lot of skill work to improve their handle, their defense, their shot, so when it comes to that time in a game they are ready.”
The two-day clinic will be held at the Summit High gym with two separate sessions on Monday, Aug. 12 and Tuesday Aug. 13. The first session will be for incoming eighth through 10th graders and will go from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The second session for incoming fifth through seventh graders will run 1-3 p.m.
Check-ins are a half hour before each session starts and the cost $80 per person.
