Bruce Avery Combs, of Bend, died July 5 of natural causes. He was 60.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Combs was born May 18, 1947, in Camas, Wash. He married Janie Duncan in Nevada.

Mr. Combs was the owner and an instructor for Drive to Survive in Deschutes County. He retired from the State of Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training in 1999.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Meagan, of Boston; and a brother, Douglas, of Portland.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
