Central Oregon riders at ‘cross championship

PROVIDENCE, R1.I. – The national title race for cyclocross runs today through Sunday, and seven Central Oregon cyclists will join the thousands of amateur and professional riders set to compete in the championship event.
The USA Cycling National Cyclocross Championships kick off today with title races for masters men and women. Over the three-day competitions, national champions will be crowned in dozens of categories including elite men on Saturday and elite women on Sunday.

Today, Bend riders Don Leet (masters ages 55-59) and Jon Hansen (masters ages 30-34) are scheduled to compete.
Carson Miller of Bend is expected to race in the elite junior men’s division Saturday, as are Chris Horner and Scott Carlile in the race for elite men. On Sunday, Megan Elliot and Sami Fournier, both of Bend, will be among the 81 riders in the elite women’s competition.
