Julie Lin (Jackson) Stephenson

Julie Lin (Jackson) Stephenson of Albany died Sunday. She was 32.

Visitation is will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and a graveside memorial will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Willamette Memorial Park in Albany.

Ms. Stephenson was born July 22, 1969, in Redmond to Dwaine and Kaye (Gatchell) Jackson.

She enjoyed collecting bells and smiley faces and spending time with children.

Ms. Stephenson was survived by two sons, Drew of Albany and Coty of Sweet Home; one brother, Ken Jackson of Tumalo; two sisters, Tanya Morgan of Albany and Yvonne Martin of Post Falls, Idaho; surrogate father, Tom Morgan of Eugene; and mother, Faye (Dick) Cortright of Albany.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Julius Albin Hanson

Julius Albin Hanson of Prineville died Friday of natural causes. He was 49.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in California.

Mr. Hanson was born Aug.12, 1951, in Inglewood, Calif., to Maynard and Judith (Nelson) Hanson.

He was a self-employed painter.

Mr. Hanson enjoyed fishing, hunting in the Deschutes and motorcycles.

Survivors include two daughters, Kimberly Christman of Prineville and Crystal Hanson of Ventura, Calif.; and mother, Judith Hanson of Santa Maria, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and brother.

Dave R. Frame

Sept. 20, 1918 July 25, 2001

Dave R. Frame of Redmond died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 82.

There will be no services held.

Mr. Frame was born September 20, 1918, in Mesa, Colo. He married Wilma Frame on April 10, 1972.

He is an Army veteran of World War II, he also worked as a logging, farming and buying/selling cattle until he retired in 1974.

Mr. Frame enjoyed rodeos, hunting, fishing, basketball and baseball.

Survivors include his wife of Redmond; one son, Jim of Brownsville; one step-son, Philip Grady of Sisters; three daughters, Debbie Reed of Medford, Sheree Brown of Albany, and Tina of Redmond; two step-daughters, Lornie Grady of Redmond and Patricia Cunningham of Culver; one brother, James of Dayton, Wash.; two sisters, Evelyn Herdt of Garrison, N.D., and Doris Wallace of Colburn, Colo.; five step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Ronald Leigh Towell

Ronald Leigh Towell of Sunriver died Wednesday. He was 63.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church in Sunriver.

Mr. Towell was born Sept. 29, 1937, in Ontario to Leigh and Gladys (Linville) Towell. He married Brenda Towell April 24, 1960, in Bend.

He worked for the U.S. Forest Service from 1957-1965 as headquarters fireman. From 1965 to 1982 he was general manager of Mid-Oregon Motors. He worked in environmental services for Willamette Industries, Inc. until his retirement in 1998.

Mr. Towell was affiliated with Sunriver Christian Fellowship and Trinity Episcopal Church. He was a member of P.A.C.E. Union, Mt. Bachelor Ski Patrol and the Bend Snowmobile Club.

He enjoyed snow skiing, snowmobiling, fly fishing, camping with family and friends, and in the 1970’s was active in High School sports at Bend Senior High.

Survivors include his wife of Sunriver; two sons, Thomas of Sunriver and Todd of Anchorage, Ala.; one brother, Doug of Bend; one sister, Pat Sisson of Salem; father, Leigh of Salem; mother, Gladys Graham of Bend; and one granddaughter.

Mr. Towell was preceded in death by one sister.

Frank R. Armstrong

Frank R. Armstrong of Madras died Thursday. He was 47.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Madras Conservative Baptist Church. Final disposition will be private.

Mr. Armstrong was born May 21, 1954, to Donald and Mary (Holt) Armstrong. He married Marsha (Elston) Armstrong.

Survivors include his wife of Madras; two sons, Scott and Jesse both of Madras; three brothers, Harry of Madras, Tom of New Mexico, and Dick of Spokane, Wash.; father, Donald; and step-mother, Mary.

Velma K. ‘Blondie’ (Schroeder) Hylland

Velma K. ‘Blondie’ (Schroeder) Hylland of La Pine died Wednesday of heart failure. She was 83.

A public memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Central Pines Funeral Home in La Pine. A burial of ashes/graveside memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Park Lawn Cemetery in The Dalles.

Mrs. Hylland was born December 30, 1917, in Dallas. She married Oliver J. ”Hy” Hylland on November 19, 1949.

She graduated from the nursing program of Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. She was co-owner/operator of Hylland Pontiac in Dallas, then General Auto Supply then La Pine Auto Parts Supply.

Survivors include two sons, Jim of Portland and Mark of La Pine; one daughter, Kathy Wolff of The Dalles; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Hylland was preceded in death by her husband.

Lillian May Sumner

Lillian May Sumner of Prineville died Saturday. She was 87.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Chapel. A burial will be held 3 p.m. Friday at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Tillamook.

Mrs. Sumner was born June 10, 1914 in White Hall, Ill. to Arthur and Rebecca (Woods) Bean. She married John Sumner.

She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Sumner was affiliated with First Baptist Church of Prineville. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, embroidery, her cats and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include one son, Howard Scott of Tillamook; one daughter, Linda Clark of Prineville; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Leroy Furrow

Kenneth Leroy Furrow of Prineville died Thursday of natural causes. He was 67.

Cremation will be held at the Prineville Heritage Crematory.

Mr. Furrow was born Aug.13, 1933, in Puyallup, Wash., to Walter Leroy and Edna Mary (Olinger) Furrow. He married Mary Lou Furrow.

He attended mechanic training school after which he went to work for Firestone for 22 years, then A.N.T. Tire Company for eight more years. He retired in 1993.

Mr. Furrow enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and working on cars.

Survivors include his wife of Prineville; two sons, Dale of Houston, Texas, and Keith of Vancouver, Wash.; and one sister, Alice Rosemeyer of Eugene.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Solveig Marie Fox

Solveig Marie Fox of Bend died Thursday of natural causes. She was 90.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Fox was born May 27, 1911, in Crosby, N.D. to Hilda and John Jensen. She married Robert Fox on Aug. 6, 1948 in Astoria.

She was a teacher in Minot, N.D., Amity, Carlton, Siletz and Bend.

Mrs. Fox was affiliated with First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed book club, skiing, golf, camping, flower gardening and making lefsa.

Survivors include her husband of Bend; one son, Robert of Grand Junction; two sisters, Ethel Goddard and Jane Lovelace; and three granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Bertha Marie Nitschke

Bertha Marie Nitschke of Prineville died Sunday of natural causes. She was 92.

A viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Prineville Funeral Home. A graveside and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Juniper Haven Cemetery.

Mrs. Nitschke was born Oct. 31, 1908, in Napoleon, N.D. to Ronald and Katherine (Lang) Ost. She married Reine Nitschke on July 10, 1959 in Alberden, N.D.

She worked as a chef and an apartment manager.

Mrs. Nitschke was a member of the Eagles Club for more than 30 years and was affiliated with Echos of Calvary Church. She enjoyed bingo, card games and spending time with friends.

Survivors include 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son and one daughter.
