Harry ‘June’ Arthur Welch

Harry ”June” Arthur Welch of Powell Butte died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 84.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish Hall in Prineville.
Mr. Welch was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Malheur County to Harry and Nellie (Carter) Welch. He married Norma Farrow on Oct. 21, 1938, in Pendleton.
He was a cattle rancher in Long Creek from 1945-1952, at the Turmon Ranch from 1952-1955 and in Powell Butte from 1955 until his death.
Mr. Welch was a member of the Elks Lodge, Lookout Mountain Grange, Prineville Golf and Country Club and past President and Grand Marshall of the Crooked River Round-Up.
He enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing, gardening, storytelling and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of Powell Butte; three daughters, Rita Krebs of Lake Oswego, Lucinda of Portland and C. Jill Hedges of Gresham; two sisters, LaVelle Province of Tigard and Paralee Weinke of Pilot Rock; three grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his two brothers.

Robert Lee Hicks

Robert Lee Hicks of Redmond died Tuesday of cancer. He was 74.
No formal services will be held.
Mr. Hicks was born June 10, 1927, in El Dorado, Kan., to Cecil and Myrtle Hicks. He married Elanie on Nov. 22, 1947, in Las Vegas, Nev.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korean War.
Mr. Hicks worked for Pacific Power and Light until 1971 when he moved to Redmond. He worked for Bonneville as a lineman until retirement in 1987.
He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and puttering around the house.
Survivors include his wife of Redmond; one son, James of Salem; two daughters, Sue Ellen Krichbaum of Hendersonville, N.C., and Catherine of Redmond; one sister, Mary Lou Creamer of Arkansas; and two grandchildren.

Thelma Ebert

Thelma Ebert of La Pine died Wednesday. She was 91.
A public funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Deschutes Memorial Chapel in Bend. A private disposition will happen that day at the Deschutes Memorial Mausoleum, also in Bend.
Mrs. Ebert was born May 23, 1910, in Samaria, Idaho. She married Max Ebert in Las Vegas in 1961. Her husband preceded her in death in 1979.
Ebert, a housewife, moved to La Pine in 1969.
She was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and the Mormon Church, and she was active as a community volunteer. Ebert had a great sense of humor.
Survivors include her son, Lamoine Armstrong of Covina, Calif.; a daughter, BarDee Gillis of LaHabra, Calif.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
