Esther (Christ) MacDermott of Bend died Thursday of natural causes. She was 93.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. MacDermott was born Oct. 30, 1907, in Ephrata, Penn. She married Waldo MacDermott April 2, 1950 in Reno, Nev.

She worked in Los Angeles for Howard Hughs in the aircraft industry during World War II. She went on to own and operate Palm Motel and Snow White Freeze Restaurant in Ashland.

She enjoyed traveling the United States and Canada by RV, her family, cooking, baking and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband; one son, Gene Long of Bend; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son and one granddaughter.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend/La Pine.

Frazier

Sequahanette ”Nette” (Sidenfaden) Frazier of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. She was 74.

A private service will be held Sept. 3 at the home of her daughter Barbi Dunham.

Mrs. Frazier was born Feb. 24, 1927 in Old Bernice, Okla.

She was a retired bar tender.

Survivors include one son, Howard Baker of Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Barbi Dunham of La Pine and Peggy Muse of Rosietta, Mexico; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her husband Bob.

Verda Lucille Barnes

Verda Lucille Barnes of Madras died Wednesday of natural causes. She was 81.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Metolius Friends Church. A final disposition will be held at Mt. Jefferson Memorial Park.

Mrs. Barnes was born April 6, 1920 in Groveland, Idaho to James and Ruth (Crozier) Jones. She married William Barnes on Nov. 2, 1938 in Wenatchee, Wash.

She worked at the Frito lay Corporation as a floor foreman prior to her retirement.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of the Culver Garden Club, affiliated with Metolius Friends Church, and a volunteer for hospice for 10 years.

She enjoyed reading, painting, poems and her garden flowers.

Survivors include one son, Christopher of Vancouver, Wash.; three daughters, Judy Huey of Springfield, Janelle Orcutt of Madras and Melissa Laur of Gladstone; one sister, Ruth Patton of Arizona; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great great-grandchild.

Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, five brothers and two sisters.

Francis Jerry Holley

Francis Jerry Holley of Redmond died Thursday of natural causes. He was 78.

No service will be held at his request.

Mr. Holley was born June 16, 1923 in Rexburg, Idaho. He married Elaine Lawrence in 1946.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as dean of admissions.

Mr. Holley was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Survivors include one son, Robert of Bend; one brother, Gordon of Rexburg, Idaho; one sister, Norma Karg of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
