William Leroy Spencer, Marion Danetta (Spencer) Moss and Charles Edward Spencer

William Leroy Spencer of Seattle, Wash., died Feb. 7, 1998. He was 60.

Marion Danetta (Spencer) Moss of Seattle, Wash., died June 18, 1992. She was 52.

Charles Edward Spencer of Tacoma, Wash., died Sept. 4. He was 57.

A three-family-member memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Deschutes Memorial Gardens. A burial will follow the service.

Mr. Spencer was born on Oct. 23, 1937, in Bend to William Spencer and Erma (Griffith) Naihe.

Mrs. Moss was born on Nov. 8, 1939, in Bend to William Spencer and Erma (Griffith) Naihe.

Mr. Spencer was born on May 2, 1944, in Prineville to William Spencer and Erma (Griffith) Naihe.

Survivors include six children; six grandchildren; stepmother, Lorraine Spencer of Bend; four brothers; and seven sisters.

They were preceded in death by their parents.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Heart Fund Societies of America.

Kenneth Karl Woods

Feb. 15, 1913 Oct. 31, 2001

Kenneth Karl Woods of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 88.

No service will be held.

Mr. Woods was born Feb. 15, 1913, in Aurora, Neb. He married Clara Wallace in 1941 in Los Angeles, Calif.

He worked as the owner and operator of trucking lines. He helped with the construction of Grand Cooley Dam. He retired and moved to Redmond in 1989. He moved to Bend in 2000.

Survivors include his daughter, Mary Schlichtman of Portland; two sisters, Betty Fullerton of Shell Knob, Mo., and Marilyn Skarin of Hastings, Neb.; and two grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Oregon Hospice.

Pauline Lucille (Smith) Sturdevant

April 27, 1923 Oct. 26, 2001

Pauline Lucille (Smith) Sturdevant of Bend died Oct. 26 of natural causes at her home. She was 78.

No service will be held at her request.

Mrs. Sturdevant was born on April 27, 1923, in The Dalles to J.D. and Pearl Lousie (Jost) Smith. She married Keith Sturdevant on June 14, 1941, in Eugene.

She was a homemaker. She moved to Bend in 1994.

Mrs. Sturdevant was affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of Job’s Daughters. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, crafts, stitching, crocheting and quilting.

Survivors include her three sons, Dale of Toledo, James of La Pine and William of Bend; one daughter, Luann Brown of Bend; one sister, Dorothy Hughes of Eugene; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Glenn L. Cook

March 26, 1929 – Nov. 1, 2001

Glenn L. Cook of Bend died at his home Thursday. He was 72.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Deschutes Memorial Gardens, 63875 N Highway 97.

Mr. Cook was born in Bend to Benjamin L. Cook and Edith Hull Cook on March 26, 1929.

He graduated from Bend High School in 1947.

Mr. Cook married Stella Allen in 1947 in Prineville.

He worked for Brooks Scanlon Diamond International for 42 years as a sawyer and then as a large log mill supervisor. He retired in 1988.

Mr. Cook enjoyed hunting, camping, card games, walking in the desert and growing flowers and raspberries, which he shared with friends.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Glenn Cook Jr. of Bend and David Cook of Salem; and six grandchildren.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents.

Kerry Sean Shuffield

July 6, 1971 – Nov. 3, 2001

Kerry Sean Shuffield died Saturday from complications of lymphoma at St. Charles Medical Center. He was 30.

A visitation will be held Monday between 3 p.m and 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until noon at Autumn Funeral Homes.

A graveside service will held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Terrebonne Pioneer Cemetery. The service will be followed by a potluck at the Terrebonne Grange.

Mr. Shuffield was born in Redmond on July 6, 1971.

He was raised in Redmond and graduated from Redmond High School.

He attended UTI, a technical institute, in Phoenix, Ariz., where he received diesel mechanic training.

Mr. Shuffield was employed at Nick’s Crane in Bend.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving dune buggies and motorcycles, and his work.

Mr. Shuffield is survived by two daughters, Shala Shuffield of Lakeview and Mariah Shuffield of Prineville; his mother and stepfather, Debbie J. and Dick Ridgeway of Terrebonne; his father, Duane Shuffield of Summer Lake; two sisters, Angela Salladay of Terrebonne and Ginger Spruell of Culver; two brothers, Chaylon Shuffield of Summer Lake and Dustin Spruell of Culver; his grandparents, Fred and Shirley Dexter of Terrebonne, Lavon Ridgeway of Culver, Earlene Phillips of Porterville, Calif., and Ernie Shuffield of Orosi, Calif.; and special friend Loretta West of Terrebonne.
