Joseph Benjamin Levine

Joseph Benjamin Levine of La Pine died Saturday of heart failure. He was 70.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at La Pine Pentecostal Church of God.
Mr. Levine was born Jan. 15, 1931, on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma. He married Hildegard on Oct. 16, 1977, in Carson, Calif.
He served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Levine worked as an auto mechanic for 44 years. He retired in 1987.
Survivors include his wife of La Pine; two sons, Joseph and Jerry, both of Riverside, Calif.; a daughter, Elizabeth ”Beth” of La Pine; mother, Birdie of Klamath Falls; three brothers, Wayne and Raymond ”LeRoy”, both of Bend and James ”Jim” of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two sisters, Lillian Tiffany of Klamath Falls and Lolla Leach of Benston, Ky.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.

Robert Louis Queirolo

Robert Louis Queirolo of Bend died Monday of natural causes. He was 77.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Bend.
Mr. Queirolo was born June 17, 1924, in San Francisco. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. He married Patricia on July 11, 1983, in San Francisco.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Queirolo worked as an industrial chemical salesperson for Stauffer Chemical, now Brent Chemical in Portland and San Francisco. He retired in 1982. He moved to Bend in 1994.
He enjoyed fishing the rivers of California and the San Francisco Bay and hunting birds.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; and a sister, Lois Shellworth of Atherton, Calif.

Lillian (Martinez) Gonzalez

Lillian (Martinez) Gonzalez of Bend died Sunday. She was 68.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Mrs. Gonzalez was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Mexicalli, Mexico. She married Benjamin Gonzalez in July of 1957, in Arizona.
She was a homemaker. She also worked part time as a CNA at Presbyterian Hospital in Whittier, Calif. She moved to Bend in August of 1994.
Mrs. Gonzalez enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, knitting, singing, helping those less fortunate and playing games with her family. She also enjoyed camping and fishing at Susans Creek.
Survivors include her husband of Bend; three sons, Victor of Yuma, Ariz., Johnny of Pico Rivera, Calif., and Benjamin Jr. of Bend; three daughters, Maria Del Carman Gonzalez and Lillian, both of Bend and Nancy Ann of Yuma, Ariz.; two brothers; three sisters; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sandy Lee (Metcalf) Roe

Sandy Lee (Metcalf) Roe of Culver died Dec. 5 due to a motor vehicle accident. She was 32.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Culver High School Gymnasium.
Mrs. Roe was born Jan. 5, 1969, in Nampa, Idaho to Earl Metcalf and Connie (Walker) Larson. She married Steven Roe.
She worked in the special education department at Culver School District.
Mrs. Roe enjoyed crafts, religion and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband of Culver; a son, Ethan of Culver; mother and stepfather, Lon Larson; father and stepmother, Angela Metcalf; a brother, Scott Rhodes; a stepbrother, William Hayes; a sister, Kim Rhodes; and four grandparents, Louise and Bill Walker and Imogene and Wilber Smith.

Jason was born Jan. 8, 1986, in Redmond to Steven and Sandy (Metcalf) Roe.
He was a freshman at Culver High School.
Jason enjoyed dance, both jazz and ballet. He also enjoyed drawing, building models and collecting oriental art.

Devin Roe was born Feb. 28, 1995, in Madras to Steven and Sandy (Metcalf) Roe.
He was a first grader at Culver Elementary School.
Devin enjoyed all sports, motorcycles, monster trucks and fire trucks.

Helen Violet (Mayer) Bentley of Ashwood died Monday of natural causes at her home. She was 60.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mrs. Bentley’s home on Northeast Trout Creek Road in Ashwood.
Mrs. Bentley was born Nov. 3, 1941, in Cleveland to Joseph and Helen (Pepoy) Mayer. She married Merlyn Bentley in 1962 in Hemlock.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bentley enjoyed rock hounding and crafts.
Survivors include her husband of Ashwood; a son, Guy of Ashwood; mother of Springfield; and a brother, Bill Mayer of Springfield.

Dorothea(Bushnell) Perkins Thurston

Dorothea (Bushnell) Perkins Thurston of Farragut, Tenn., died Friday at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tenn. She was 95.
A private service was held.
Mrs. Thurston was born Nov. 14, 1906. She married Drew Perkins.
She worked as an art teacher in the Eugene Public School District. She lived in Bend. She married Ed Thurston.
Mrs. Thurston was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Bend.
Survivors include her two sons, Roger Perkins of Berlin, Conn., and John Perkins of East Brunswick, N.J.; two daughters, Pam Rose of Oxford, England and Paula Perkins of Farragut, Tenn.; a brother, Wilbur Bushnell of Oregon; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husband.

BettyJean (VanAtta) Chase of Sisters died Nov. 27. She was 84.
A service was held.
Mrs. Chase was born July 11, 1917, in Newberg to Walter and Laurene (Otis) VanAtta. She attended the University of Oregon. She married H. Leland Chase Jr. on Dec. 28, 1940, in Eugene.
She was a homemaker. She moved to Sisters in 1979.
Mrs. Chase was affiliated with the First Baptist Church. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She enjoyed traveling, photography and swimming.
Survivors include her husband of Sisters; a son, Lee of Eugene; two daughters, Ann Knight and Jane Mann, both of Eugene; a brother, Robert VanAtta of Portland; and nine grandchildren.
